Ted Sangster - Chairman

Ted retired in April 2010 after 12 years as Chief Executive of Milford Haven Port Authority.  He has been a board member of PBI since 1999, and a former Chairman, and due to takes up this position again in 2010/2012   He is currently Chairman of the West Wales Business Group, of the Darwin Centre and is a public member of Network Rail, a member of the British Waterways Advisory Group for Wales, the Wales Valuation Tribunal and of the Heritage Lottery Fund Committee for Wales. He lives in Spittal with his wife Margaret.

   

Richard J Packman - Vice-Chair

After graduating from Cardiff University Richard held senior positions with international industrial and healthcare companies and spent a number of years overseas in Europe, N America and the Middle East, including a 1½ year tour of duty in Germany holding the position of International Product Manager then Production Director for a German owned chemical company and finally Controller of Marketing for two divisions of an international pharmaceutical company.  He returned to Pembrokeshire initially to take up the position of Project Manager for the Milford Haven Waterway Enterprise Zone with PBI before assuming the position of Managing Director in 1987. He is a former director of Better Business Wales, former Chairman of Wales Enterprise Ltd and former director of Business Connect Wales.  He retired from PBI in 2008.

   

Professor Tony Davies - immediate past Chairman

Tony is Emeritus Professor of Electronic Commerce at Cardiff Business School; Chairman of OFCOM's Wales Advisory Board [the regulator for broadcasting and telecommunications]; Head of the UK Delegation to the United Nations Centre for Trade Facilitation and Electronic Business and Chairman of the Fishguard Invasion Trust. He has been a Director of PBI since 2003 and Chairman for 2008-2010.

   

Mr Stephen Cole

Entrepreneur and Business Executive.
Stephen has over 30 years’ experience in starting and growing successful companies. His qualities and qualifications include leadership, coaching, company acquisition and development. Stephen also has business and cultural interests in other parts of the UK and Scandinavia.  In 1984, shortly after the implementation of the Telecommunications Act 1982 and the liberalisation and breakup of the telecommunications industry monopoly, Stephen started his own firm called The Telephone Exchange supplying and installing a wide range of telephony equipment at vastly reduced prices and superior quality.  The firm has certainly past the test of time in what has been a volatile, changing and competitive market.  The firm is now in its 27th year of trading and Stephen is looking forward to serving the local community for many years to come.  He is also a founder of 102.5 Radio Pembrokeshire having started the radio station with DJ Keri Jones in July 2002.  By August 2008 when Stephen sold his stake in the company, the business had grown into four very profitable commercial radio stations covering most of South and West Wales.  An active member of the Federation of Small businesses for over 35 years and is the current Pembrokeshire Branch Chairman.  He is also a full member of the South Wales Regional Committee of which he is also a Past Chairman. Stephen is also a Director of NFSE Sales Ltd a wholly owned subsidiary company of the Federation of Small Businesses

   

Mrs Joanne Owen

BSc (Est. Man) FRICS, Joanne is a partner in Owen & Owen Chartered Surveyors of Pembroke a niche practice specialising in commercial and agricultural property matters.  Joanne has over 25 years experience of the West Wales property market and her particular expertise is in the commercial property market and includes sales, lettings, rent reviews and all other professional work. She is also the partner responsible for residential sales and lettings.  Chairman for 2006-2008.

   

Patrick Edgington

Patrick is a senior executive with the National Farmers' Union (NFU) he heads a team of 24 managers and is responsible for the running of the offices, the membership and the income of the NFU in South Wales. Prior to arriving in South Wales he was Managing Director for a specialist travel company in London. He is a Member of the Institute of Travel & Tourism and a Founder Member of the Tourism Society of Great Britain. During his time with the NFU, amongst many other things he has founded and assisted a number of agricultural co-operatives, for which he was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Agricultural Society of GB & NI. He is a past Governor and Chairman of Milford Haven School; the founder of Puffin Produce Ltd and a past Chairman of PBI

Adrian Lort-Phillips

Adrian is a broadcast Journalist and former BBC World Service reporter.  Video and radio director and producer.  Director of Pembrokeshire based company Radiant Media  - a communications consultancy. Director of Lawrenny Enterprises - House building and property management company.

   

Phil Thompson

Phil moved to Pembrokeshire in 1967 and worked in the motor trade until joining Texaco in  1974, working in the Operations department until 1988, and then transferred to the Employee and Public Relations Department as Personnel Officer.  Following a period of two years as a Personnel/Welfare Officer took on the role of Public Relations Adviser and then Public Affairs Manager and managed the company’s Public Affairs Policy.  He is also heavily involved with many community and charitable events throughout Pembrokeshire, raising in excess of £750,000 from community and charity events.  One single night event – a charity ball with the Rotary Club of Pembroke, Chevron helped to raise in excess of £28,000 for the Tsunami Relief Appeal.  Phil has been awarded many community awards during his service with Chevron Ltd., namely:

Kefin Wakefield

Kefin came to Pembrokeshire in 1974.  His initial employment was as a planning officer with South Pembrokeshire District Council when his first project work was in housing regeneration through the delivery of the Pennar Housing Action Area and General Improvement Area. In 1980 he moved across to take on and develop the economic development function in South Pembrokeshire.  In 1996 he was appointed as Head of Economic Development for Pembrokeshire County Council managing the business development, inward investment and European functions and leading a team of officers to continue to draw down resources to help the Pembrokeshire economy grow. The Council’s economic development team have delivered a wide range of investments and initiatives across the County including property developments, business grant schemes, food and timber initiatives, employment support, youth enterprise, innovation and technology support.  Having worked through times of very high unemployment he is committed to diversifying and adding value to the Pembrokeshire economy and strongly believes in working with partners of common purpose in order to devise local solutions to the many economic development challenges. Married with two grown up daughters he retired from local government in 2010, he is a Director of the Pembrokeshire Lottery and maintains a strong interest in working to improve the local economy. He has been director of PBI since September 2010 but has been a member representing PCC for many years.
