Privacy Statment

General

This privacy statement sets out how PBI complies with European Union data protection requirements. This applies to the entire web site.

PBI and its subsidiaries are committed to respecting your privacy. We have structured our web site so that, in general, you can visit PBI on the web without identifying yourself or revealing any personal information. Once you choose to provide us with any information by which you can be identified, then you can be assured that it will only be used in accordance with this privacy statement.

For your protection, we are registered under the Data Protection Act 1998 and have given all appropriate notifications to the Information Commissioner.

What we collect

We may require that users supply personal information, including name, company, telephone number, fax number and e-mail address prior to receiving specific support or information.

We may also ask you to provide us with information regarding your personal or professional interests, demographics, experiences with our services, and contact preferences in order to provide you with further correspondence about our products. Some pages use cookies, a data analysis technique.

What do we do with the information we gather

We require this information to understand your needs and provide you with a better service, and in particular for the following reasons:

Internal record keeping

We may use the information to improve our products and services.

We may periodically send promotional e-mail about new services, special offers or other information, which we think you may find interesting using the e-mail address which you have provided when you registered as a user on this site.

Who we share the information with and your choices

When you use this site and have not advised us to the contrary, you are agreeing that we may use your personal information for the purposes set out in this statement.

We will not sell, distribute or lease your personal information to third parties other than our subsidiaries unless we have your permission or are required by law.

The Organisation

Pembrokeshire Business Initiative (PBI) is a company limited by guarantee, which shares the desire to develop the economic and financial well being of those living in Wales - through commerce and education.
PBI links together many organisations such as local authorities, consultancies, training and other such organisations, to support the development of small to medium sized businesses in all areas of trade and commerce.

DPA Policy Statement

The personal information kept by the PBI is solely for business purposes.
The PBI conforms to the Data Protection Act of 1998, as if for a member of the public.
There is no differentiation between people working for large public and private limited organisations, or a sole trader.

Purposes

PBI and its partners keep personal data for the economic and educational development of Welsh residents and businesses, by the provision of information and

relevant contacts within the PBI arena.

PBI has notified the Commissioner's Office of the following purposes for which it uses personal information:-

Consultancy and Advisory Services
Education
Research
Staff administration
Advertising, marketing and public relations
Accounts and records


Marketing 'Opt Out*

The PBI does not use its personal information for any purpose other than business development. So, for example, should a self-employed person seek advice on a training course, a PBI partner will periodically provide relevant information to that self-employed person, or enable an appropriate Third Party to do so.

PBI does not allow the personal data held to be used for the promotion or marketing or unrelated goods and services to individuals.

PBI Working Obligations

PBI exists to support the economic and educational policies of the National Assembly of Wales. As such it uses the personal information it keeps for statistical, reporting, and management purposes, in its work with the Welsh Development Agency and the National Assembly.
These obligations are mandatory and set out in both primary and delegated legislation, as well as voluntary administrative orders from the Assembly.

The PBI has additional statutory obligations to report to the European Commission on matters of economic and business development.

Automated Decision Making

None of the personal data kept by PBI is used for automated decision making purposes.

Accessing Your Personal Data

A Subject Access Request (SAR) is the correct expression for finding out about your personal information under the 1998 Act.

Subject Access Requests can be made to the Data Protection controller at Pembrokeshire Business Initiative Ltd at:

This request can be formally in writing or informally by phone. In both cases some form of proof of identity will be required, with conformation of your involvement with the PBI.

Further information may be requested from you to enable PBI or one of its partners to locate the information you wish to have disclosed to you.
Following this you will be written to at your last known address to confirm your details.

Subject Access Request.

Once a valid Subject Access Request has been agreed, PBI or its Partner, then has 40 days in which to provide you with copies of the information requested. A nominal charge of £25 is made for fulfilling your request, although this may be waived under certain circumstances, at the discretion of the Data Protection officer.

In the event that you are unhappy with how the Subject Access Request has been prepared, or the time taken to provide the information requested, please contact the head of PBI at Principality House. The Head undertakes to

pursue your Subject Access Request with the appropriate Partner or his own staff.

PBI will make any valid corrections or amendments to your personal information, following your Subject Access Request.

Personal Data Transfers

Personal Data is transferred between PBI Partner organisations, for business development and research purposes only.

Personal Data is not passed outside of the PBI Partnership network.

Personal Data Kept

The Personal Data kept by PBI and its Partner organisations is self-reported by an individual as part of a business registration with a Partner, or as part of the ongoing work of the partnership as a whole.
Some of the Personal Data comes 'in confidence' as references and assessments, as occasionally it comes from occupational health sources.
Some of the Personal Data kept occasionally contains 'sensitive' data as defined by the 1998 Act.
