Farm diversification business support programme

With an increasing pressure on farmers and farming to become more profitable and sustainable, one option to consider is to identify alternative sources of income to supplement traditional agriculture activities.

Our Farm Diversification programme is specifically designed to focus on providing business advice, support and assistance to micro and smaller agricultural enterprises and farming families in Pembrokeshire who are looking to generate additional income through diversification opportunities.

The main focus of the support and advice we are offering involves: -

• Working with farmers to indentify diversification opportunities and developing project ideas which can be based on the physical and human assets that they may already have but could exploit further into activities away from those of their normal agricultural business.
• Initial business planning activities and assistance with financial planning and cash flow forecasting
• Investigating potential funding sources and grant schemes

The project can also offer assistance with other activities that can help with further developing diversification ideas such as: -

• Market Research to look at potential market openings and competitor activities
• Marketing plans & branding advice to help in promoting the new business activities
• ICT support & guidance
• Accessing additional support from other programmes & organisations
